The museum's research library has over 2,500 volumes on Aviation, The Great War, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and scores of land and sea battles... the collections include over 400 aviation cadet class books and air field annuals, and scores of WWII Newsmaps and Aerial Navigation Charts.
Our library has photos and brief bio's on some 20,000 of the 195,000 Arkansans who served in WWII. If you would like to place a photo and bio of an Arkansas veteran in our library, please bring or mail to the museum.

When the WRAAF opened, it was the largest in the Southeast Training Command, covering 3096.22 acres; although, several other air fields had more runways. The photo above, dated 3-25-43, does not show the warehouses, laundry, fuel farm, colored barracks and theater or sewer treatment plant (to left of photo.) The WAC quarter were under construction (center right, north of the hospital.) Later, scores of buildings would be constructed, including the base commander's house, laundry, east addition to the officers' club, community center and 67 apartment buildings containing 260 apartments. The last building constructed, the base sales office, opened December 31, 1943.
